TODAY AND TOMORROW: Emerging Practices in Malaysian Art provides a snapshot of a generation of emerging Malaysian artists whose works and projects have captured the attention of contemporary audiences and appear set to influence the shape of things to come.

The twenty-seven individual artists featured here represent the diversity and energy of today’s art scene in Malaysia, their practices ranging across painting, photography, sound, video, interactive digital media, street art and design, performance, installation, and object-making. Also featured are eight active artists’ collectives, as well as several key art projects and events from the past five years, reflecting the growing importance of collaborative practices and expressing changing ideas about how art can be experienced and accessed by the public.

Including artists’ vital statistics and profiles, illustrations of artworks and documentation of events, this is a useful visual reference for students, specialists and general readers interested in the ongoing development of contemporary Malaysian art.
